BIO:
Hetty was named after her great, great, great grandmother: Hetty Layfield. She learned how to play guitar from her parents who are both musicians in their own right. Sometime during college, Hetty put down the guitar and didn't pick it up again until she "accidentally" moved to Nashville. It's true...she literally stopped to spend the night on the way home from an internship in Kansas City and then never left. She was in love.
Being in Nashville reawakened all of her musical sensibilities. She picked back up her Martin and began writing songs. One of the first songs she wrote was "The Pirate Song." She wrote the tongue-in-cheek lyrics in about fifteen minutes of heated anger over feeling like she couldn't be herself. She continued to write and found that she kept coming back to themes of the sea. She decided to embrace the inclination and devote her first recording to be a concept album centered around mentions of the ocean, pirates, sailing and other sea-faring adventures. Hetty successfully funded this debut album titled, "In Search of the Sea" and has already finished recording it. It is due out spring/summer of 2017 and you can pre-order it here.
Also pursuing creative writing, Hetty is in the middle of a third draft of a science fiction novel. You can see this in her songwriting--she loves wordplay and finding the perfect phrase to fit the perfect melody. If she ever finds that splendid combination she feels like she could take over the world. Or at least save it.
She's a little pitchy, extremely sincere, unique and raw. She loves music and she loves people and hopes that her music will bless everyone who hears it.
